The Kitting describes the combination of individual components according to customer specifications. The Kits are delivered either assembled or as an assembly set, however, the customer does always receive an assembly set. SAP EWM supports the Kitting-processes Kit-to-Order (ordered assembly set creation) and the Kit-to-Stock (stock assembly set creation).
The Kit-to-Stock process represents the production and the stocking of assembly sets. One assembly set (Kit) equals one product comprised out of different products or components (example: a bike comprised out of a frame, handle bar, tries, and a saddle).
Kit-to-Order describes the assembly set creation according to orders. If the required assembly set should not be stocked, it will either be created as a part of the picking or as a value added service at a work center.
