Carl Cloos Welding Technology
At Carl Cloos Welding TechnologyAt Carl Cloos Schweißtechnik GmbH in Haiger, SALT Solutions has expanded the production and logistics system. Production planning and supply was integrated in the SAP system.
The family company Cloos, with over 700 employees worldwide, is among the global leaders in the field of arc welding technology and its automation. Welding equipment, welding systems and industrial robots are produced at
the Haiger site.
Focus of the SAP integration was commissioning a new, automated small parts warehouse for production supply, entire material flow control, order management and sequence planning in manufacturing and assembly. The goal was the complete conversion of production processes to shorten lead times and reduce inventories. Production at Cloos was divided into manufacturing groups, which are supplied with material according to kanban principles by a “milkrunner†system.
SAP and Real RFID
The SAP-based manufacturing execution system (MES) by SALT Solutions was implemented. SALT-MES has been fully developed in ABAP and combines production control, inventory management and material flow control in one solution. The system provides automated data from the machine and operating data acquisition for further processing in PP, QM and SAP HR.
In addition, RFID was used for the first time at CLOOS. Instead of a simple bar-code replacement, a technique for tabulated management of small boxes was used, which saves storage space through effective use of the room.
