Automated Customs Clearance with LogCustoms

The maintenance and repair of aircraft represents the highest technical and organizational requirements. An important aspect is to ensure the availability of spare parts. In case of an emergency („aircraft on ground“) spare parts must be transported 24/7h to the repair location as quickly as possible.

Just as complicated and demanding as logistics is the duty-related handling of aircraft parts. SALT Solutions has developed the customs management system LogCustoms for Lufthansa. LogCustoms automatically provides the correct tariff decision more than 10,000 times a day (pay duty or not, assign the correct customs procedure). Decisions are made by an integrated rule engine, which links the current process information to over 1,000 technical customs rules. LogCustoms obtains the transaction data from operational application systems by automated interfaces. Only a fraction of cases has to be manually process by the department.
