Warehouse Management for Contract Logistics

Global Warehouse and Logistics GmbH (GWaL) is the second largest furniture logistics company in Europe. GwaL stands for the, distribution bundeling of more than 30 furniture brands.

A high throughput and an extremely differentiated product range require the application of a warehouse management system. Global Warehouse and Logistics chose an SAP-based warehouse management solution. The system is capable of ensuring the entire goods turnover from the manufacturing plants or from the manually linked external suppliers to the end customer.

The warehouse management system communicates with the fork lift system TESS and the route planning system PRACAR 3000. All processes in the warehouse (recording of incoming goods, transportation by the forklift control system and the loading) are  directly and simultaneously displayed  in the system by the use of scanners and data transmission equipment.

In addition, the SAP system provides the monitoring possibility of the storage and the gate occupancy via a control monitor.
